Magazine's Logo (Improved)

Hello Peeps!
As I researched on logos yesterday and my logo was not up to the mark, today I recreated it according to my research. According to the research it should be bigger, clearer and text based logo.

I thought a little and came to the point that I should select the right font for my logo as it would be text based.
Firstly I created a text based logo. I decided to make word "The" smaller than "Menu" because it's not as important as the word "Menu" is. I selected a font called "IskoolaPota" for word "The" and selected the font "Modern No. 20" for the word "Menu". After creating it I minimized the size of the logo to see it's visibility from a distance. Here what I made:

Then I tried another font which is one of my favorite called "Bebas" on the blank art board. I applied it on the both words. I moved "The" above "Menu". Then in the same way I minimized it on a black box to see it's visibility.
Here is what I made:

I discussed it with my teacher and finalized the second logo I created with the font "Bebas"
Finally I am done with my logo. See you in my next post later!
Bye :)

Magazine's Logo (Creation)

Hello!
As we decided our magazine's name and the genre yesterday as I mentioned in my previous post, now we have to design it's logo in "Adobe Illustrator".

The name I finalized for my magazine was "The Menu".
The logo I think should be related to food, so here is my creativity which I did today.

Firstly I thought and tried to make a type of plate which symbolizes my genre "Food". I created two art boards in Adobe Illustrator for some rough work. I made a circle and out side the circle I made an outer circle as in the image below:

I thing these circles are symbolizing a kind of plate. Then I added the name of my magazine "The Menu" in the middle of the circle. The font I used to type this text was "Alpha Dishes". Here is the logo which I designed today:

I think it's good and now I need to show it to my teacher in the next class.
Thanks

Magazine's Logo (Research)

Hello World!

Today I researched a little on the Logos of other magazines to understand what my logo should be like.
I googled up a little and found some food magazines cover.
Here are they:

As we can see the 3 magazines above and their logo. "Vegan Food", "Good Food" and "Food & Wine".
3 Logos are the biggest and the most visible text on the cover page.
These are basically text based logos without any background. This is what I learnt from my research today. Now I think I should create a text based logo.
Thanks! :)

Magazine Analysis

Hello World!
Now as we have to move further and design our own magazine, I got a task from our teacher to analyse magazine and create a presentation on it. I analysed a "Food Magazine" named "Vegan Magazine".

Three things in it were analyzed, one was the "Cover Page", second the "Content Page" and third "Double Page Spread".
The following presentation was made by analyzing this magazine.

This was all we did today.
See you later. :)
Thanks and bye!

The presentation basically contains the definition of both fonts, proper explanation in form of image and lastly the use of each type of font in different magazines.
Here is my presentation:

Hope you liked the presentation and learnt something about two types of fonts.
That was all today we did.

Thanks for viewing!

Fonts - Serif and Sans Serif

Hello Reader!
Second week of the college has started and now we had started learning things.
Today our teacher defined us the two types of fonts "Serif" and "Sans Serif" and had a discussion on them.
We learned many things eg. how they look and what are the main differences between them.

They both were defined as the following definition:

  1. Sans Serif
In typography, a sans-serif, sans serif, gothic, san serif or simply sans typeface is one that does not have the small projecting features called "serifs" at the end of strokes. The term comes from the French word sans, meaning "without" and "serif" from the Dutch word schreef meaning "line". Sans-serif fonts tend to have less line width variation than serif fonts.
  2. Serif
In typography, a serif is a small line attached to the end of a stroke in a letter or symbol. A typeface with serifs is called a serif typeface (or serifed typeface).
Now we have something creative to do. We are assigned to make a presentation on "Fonts" so I will be making and presenting a presentation in my next post. See you later.

Thanks :D

1st Day, New Place, New People!

Hello World!
This is Saqib and today it is my first day at my new collage "Beaconhouse College Campus Gulberg".

It is a new place, with new environment, new teachers, new fellows and soon will get some new friends.
The main reason I took "Media" as a subject in my A Level is because I want a bright future in media related field. I am looking for a challenging opportunity to achieve the giving target and help the establishment in providing excellent work by using latest techniques. It does not matter whether I go in any field, all I want to do is basically to help people in any way and to bring some change in this world. I believe on one of the quotes of "Steve Jobs" that "The ones who are crazy enough to thing that they can change the world, are the ones who do".
Best of luck to me for my Collage life! :)
See you later!
Thanks
